The leaves aren't the only things that are changing at the North Park Farmers' Market. We've unveiled a brand-new layout, making it easier than ever to find your favorite farmers, stock up on locally made grocery items, enjoy a meal in San Diego's hottest food neighborhood, and shop for holiday gifts.

We've expanded the market all the way to University Avenue, with farmers lining the east side of the street. Aisles continue down to North Park Way, with more farmers and vendors and ample dining seating in the CVS parking lot. PLUS, we've opened up 2 FULL ROWS of COMPLIMENTARY 1-HOUR PARKING for NPFM shoppers.

Over the next few weeks, we've got loads of events for kids and adults. Check them out (and print off a copy for you fridge at the link below.

See you at the market!

Little Artists Win Big at the North Park Farmers' Market

June 10, 2015 - 10:18am

The North Park Farmers' Market is your fun, food-focused, family-friendly headquarters this summer. Explore nature's bounty every Thursday from 3PM-7PM on Herman Ave. between University and North Park Way & in the CVS parking lot. Shop for the freshest produce, meat, cheese, honey, eggs, and flowers, enjoy live music and amazing cuisine from our prepared food vendors, and keep kids engaged with these Market Activities:

For our youngest shoppers:

  • Help your child identify shapes and colors.
  • Count the number of different fruits and vegetables on display at a given booth.
  • Visit the North Park Library booth on the first Thursday of every month (July 2, August 6, September 3) for kid-focused activities.

As age-appropriate:

  • Encourage your child/ren to take a more active role in the shopping process to learn about money/making change.
  • Is your child an aspiring chef? What recipes have they come up with?
  • Does your child have an idea for a business? What can they learn from the market/vendors?

*UPDATED* We're Rockin' and Rollin' During "Bike Month"

May 8, 2015 - 10:03am

*UPDATE* From SANDAG (MAY 14, 2015): "Bike to Work Day postponed to May 29
Due to heavy rains and thunderstorms forecast for the greater San Diego region tomorrow, which could create unsafe bike riding conditions across the county during the morning and afternoon commutes, SANDAG announced on May 14, 2015, that Bike to Work Day activities will be rescheduled from Friday, May 15, to Friday, May 29, 2015."

The North Park Farmers’ Market (Thursdays, 3-7PM on Herman Ave. between University & North Park Way) celebrates San Diego’s cycling community during “National Bike Month” this May. There’s never been a better time to get your ‘fixie fix,’ burning calories while saving money and gas. Whether you’re wheeling into work every morning, or just cruising around the neighborhood, North Park is a great place to put the pedal to the metal…

And then the other pedal…

And then the other pedal…

Looking for inspiration after loading up on citrus from the North Park Thursday farmers' market? Check out these sweet and sour ideas:

Blood oranges are very versitile! Buy salmon from Sakura Seafoods for this Salmon & Blood Orange Salsa and use the extra oranges to make these sweet dessert bars. Stock up on your favorite citrus from Smit Farms for this citrus salad (drizzle with honey from Meljess Bees for added flavor). After stirring up some citrus-ade, try dehydrating R&L Farm's grapefruits, limes and lemons! You can use dehydrated citrus to flavor The Loose Leaf's teas and your favorite soups, or use for crafts and decorations.

Great Things Come from Prickly Plants!

January 21, 2015 - 11:04am

Have you ever tried Dragon Fruit (also known as pitaya) before? Now you can when you welcome our newest farmer, Gerwig Avocado Ranch at the North Park Farmers' Market! This prickly plant is crunchy like a pear, and sweet like a kiwi. (Learn how to pick the ripe one and prepare it here!)

Now scheduling local talent to play to fun, energetic crowds at our 3 weekly farmers markets in great San Diego neighborhoods! We have a great roster since our musicians tell us they book a lot of gigs with people they meet at markets, sell CDs and benefit from shopper donations. (Weekday market musicians get a small stipend in Market Money good at any booth.)

Email Kristen at with a link to your music to join now! We are very community and family friendly, and love supporting  local musicians!

Do note, musicians need to be available to play market hours open to close, with approriate breaks between sets.
