Persimmons are popping up at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market and we can't get enough! They are versatile enough to eat raw, cooked, baked and dehydrated.

Buy these delicious orange fruits from Smit Farms, gather spinach and beets from Suzie's Farm and make an easy salad. Saute slices of persimmons and add them to your oatmeal in the morning, or try this persimmon bread. Make some oven-dried persimmons for a quick snack!

Don't miss out on this great fall crop we love here in Southern California!

Gather ingredients from the North Park Farmers' Market to make healthy treats for all your ghouls and goblins before they head out for trick-or-treating this Friday night.

Substitute fresh pumpkins from J.R. Organics and locally grown apples from R&L Farms in this healthy muffin recipe to serve on Friday morning. To keep their hands out of the candy bags, offer up these persimmon cookies using Paradise Valley Ranch's persimmons and orange juice for the icing. Incorporate these tasty treats and have a sweet Halloween!

The North Park Farmers' Market is open until 7pm every Thursday evening, all year long! Don't worry, we turn on the lights when the sun goes down so you can still shop for everything on your grocery list!

Pomegranates from Paradise Valley Ranch and R&L Farms at the North Park Thursday Farmers’ Market add a festive splash of color to any recipe!

Use Charlie's Best Bread French bread, pastured eggs and apples from Smit Farms for this pomegranate apple bread pudding. Spoon pomegranate seeds over a cheesecake made with Springhill Cheese Company’s organic quark, or use them in stuffing for a roast chicken from Da-Le Ranch.

Enjoy the beauty and flavor of the pomegranate this season at the North Park Farmers' Market!

The season's first Kiwi fruit is at this week's North Park Farmers' Market!

Grab a few at the Smit Farms booth, along with a bag of golden raisins; add chunks of avocado from Paradise Valley Ranch and toss with spinach from JR Organics for an easy salad.

Speaking of easy, we love these tips for cutting and peeling that fuzzy brown fruit! (But let the kids see them first, most of them are fascinated with food they can pet.) See the kiwi this Thursday!

Get Your Apple a Day at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market!

Apple season is in full swing at the North Park Thursday Farmers’ Market and you can find different varieties at R&L Farms and Smit Farms, including the newest addition: Honeycrisp! (our favorite!)

Enjoy apple wedges dipped in almond butter from Hopkins AG, or make a sweet treat by drizzling them with orange blossom honey from Meljess Bees honey. Make a grilled cheese that’s sure to please with French bread from Charlie's Best Bread, fresh butter and cheddar cheese from Springhill Cheese Company, and thinly sliced apples- we like to add a handful of arugula from Suzie’s Farm just before we put the sandwich together.

Don't forget to tuck these healthy fruits in the kids' lunchboxes!

You may need more than just an apple a day!

SCORE A SLAM DUNK!

When we see crunchy vegetables like celery, carrots, broccoli, baby squash, Japanese turnips and radishes at the North Park Thursday Farmers’ Market, we get the urge to dunk!

Dip them in raw, vegan, flavor packed spreads from Majestic Garlic (cilantro-jalapeno is our favorite), in spicy habanero hummus from Baba Foods, or smoky Chipotle Bitchin’ Sauce. Pick up Ari's Greek yogurt and your favorite fresh herbs for this healthy dip. Load up on crisp vegetables from your favorite farmers and get dippin’.

It’s crunch time!

The Pie Joint serves up pie pops and mini-pies for your delight! Try them with a cup of cold brew from Ladies & Gentlemen Coffee Roasters and take home a bag of beans and a slick canteen to tote around too! Pick up a vegan sandwich from Hummingbird Huddle (and grab a vegan donut while you're there) or try a new Surf N Turf Burrito from El Sabroso Taqueria.

There's always something new at the North Park Market!

Find peppers big and small in all colors of the rainbow from Suzie's Farm and JR Organics Farm at the North Park Thursday farmers' market this week!

Find sweet bell peppers in shades of green, purple and red to use for stuffing (like this recipe using Ari's Greek Yogurt) or stewing. Roast Suzie's padron peppers and drizzle with California Olive's olive oil. Try Sweet Golden Treasure or Corno di Toro (Horn of the Bull, in Italian) peppers raw or fried and dice Pimento peppers to make your own cheese spread using Springhill Cheese Company's cheddar and jack.

Put some pep in your step this Thursday!

You’ll find piles of freshly picked purple, green, and yellow string beans at the North Park Thursday Farmers’ Market from Suzie’s Farm, JR Organics' Farm and Kawano Farms and so many ways to enjoy them!

Try them chilled and tossed with fresh basil and aged balsamic vinegar from The California Olive, sauteed with crunchy roasted almonds from Hopkins AG (we used their chipotle almonds for a spicy kick!), or roasted with fennel for a tasty treat.

If you’re cooking outside tonight, fill a foil packet with string beans, summer squash and spring onion from Valdivia Farm- it makes an awesome side dish to a Da-Le Ranch tri-tip.

Stock up on locally grown string beans on Thursdays from 3 to 7!
