You won't be bored by the salad base choices at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market... lettuce introduce you to the variety of leafy greens and reds!

Pick up spring mix from African Sisters Farm for a variety of greens, ready to top with your favorite veggies. Buy a bag containing 3 heads of washed romaine lettuce at J.R. Organics for convenience, and grab a head of red leaf lettuce while you're there and use on sandwiches.

Suzie's Farm grows a wide assortment of leafy greens; try their perfectly-leafed salanova breed. Ask Claire in the Suzie's booth for ideas to use their red frill lettuce and micro-spring-mix greens.

Spring is in full swing at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market! Pop over and shop this week and enjoy the sunlight until closing time (7pm) thanks to the daylight savings time change last weekend. Because of the recent rain, our farmers have some early Spring season crops at the market now! Pick up bundles of broccoli from J.R. Organics, Suzie's Farm's famous pea tendrils and snag baskets of juicy red strawberries from Rodney Kawano Farms. Valdivia Farms' new fava beans taste divine in this dip made with Paradise Valley Ranch avocados and Ari's Greek Yogurt found at the Majestic Garlic booth!

You don't have to beg for eggs at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market! They can be found in different shapes and sizes from Suzie's Farm, Swiss Mountain Farm (at R&L Farms' booth) and Da-Le Ranch!

Pick a pack of pretty brown or white eggs and make a simple French omelette using chives from Valdivia Farms. Add additional spices and veggies if you want to jazz it up a bit! If you're feeling adventurous, try this Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette)!

Fans of the Paleo diet are loving this baked egg in an avocado recipe- buy a bag of avocados from Heritage Family Farms or Paradise Valley Ranch and give it a shot! When lunchtime rolls around, make this egg-in-a-hole grilled cheese using Firehouse Jack or Sharp Cheddar cheese and unsalted butter from Springhill Cheese Company and grainy bread from our newest vendor, Prager Brothers Artisan Breads.

However you use your farmers' market eggs, we know you'll end up with an egg-credible meal!

Peas excuse us as we fawn over the new crop of peas at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market! They are sweet and snappy, green and purple, and perfect for snacking or incorporating into your favorite dinner dish.

Kawano Farms is *back* at the market starting this week and farmer Rodney is bringing his newest veggie: purple snow peas. These peas don't change color when you boil or bake them, so your meals will come alive with the vibrant purple color. Pick up cabbage, mint and cilantro at Suzie's Farm to use in this Cabbage & Pea Salad. The purple peas will give it a splashy tone. If you'd like them in your main dish, select a chicken from Da-Le Ranch and use peas in this Peas & Chicken Green Curry recipe.

Buy baskets of green snap peas from J.R. Organics and eat them raw, dipped in Bitchin' Sauce or your favorite Baba Foods hummus flavor. Chop them up and toss them in a salad of greens, African Sisters Farm's roasted beets and slivered almonds from Hopkins AG

The colors of other produce are having a hard time comparing to the pinks and reds of this season's radishes at the North Park Thursday Farmers' Market. Find this subtly spicy, supremely crunchy, root vegetable grown by Valdivia Farms, J.R. Organics and Suzie's Farm

'Breakfast radishes' have a rosey pink color with a white tip. They are oblong and skinnier than their round relatives. Pick them up from Suzie's Farm and try them in the morning, sauteed in butter from Springhill Cheese Company (just like they do in France). If you need something a bit more hearty in the morning, grab a loaf of grainy bread from Belen Bakery and eggs from R&L Farms for this breakfast recipe

Buy fresh tomatoes and radishes from J.R. Organics, chili powder from Coronado Spice & Tea Company and pork shoulder from Da-Le Ranch to combine in this Tortilla Soup Recipe.

Have you seen a unique looking purple vegetable at the North Park Thursday farmers' market lately? Kohlrabi has arrived, thanks to Suzie's Farm and J.R. Organics Farm, but it may be the lonliest veggie of all simply because few know A) What it is exactly, and B) How to cook it. Not to worry, we have tips and recipes for you... and we encourage you to get to know this versatile vegetable.

When eaten raw, it has a crisp, almost spiced flavor. Find simple tips for preparing and eating kohlrabi here. If you find yourself stumped after discovering kohlrabi in your CSA box, try this baked kohlrabi fries recipe

Buy a bottle of garlic infused olive oil from The California Olive, slice your kohlrabi and make some baked chips. Try shredding it and pick up Himalayan Salt from Coronado Spice & Tea Company for this kohlrabi salad

Fresh California oranges from Smit Farms, R&L Farms and Atkins Nursery at the North Park Thursday Farmers’ Market are sure to brighten your Holiday meals and decor this season!

Pair them with pomegranates and fresh mint from Suzie’s Farm in this holiday punch or visit Coronado Spice & Tea Company to make a festive orange pomander. Roasted beets from Valdivia Farms co-star with the citrus in this winter salad (we couldn’t resist topping it with chevre from Springhill Cheese Company), and pork chops from Da-Le Ranch get a burst of brightness in this grilled orange-rosemary pork chops recipe (get rosemary at J.R. Organics).

Try this orange cake with spiked sauce for dessert or just simply peel and eat your favorite orange on the go! Orange you glad you get year round citrus?

Let the North Park Thursday farmers' market keep you healthy this holiday season so you can toast the New Year in good health!

Pick up fruits and veggies packed with nutrients to keep you going; oranges from R&L Farms, juicy apples from Smit Farms and dark, leafy greens from African Sisters. Grab a bottle of local honey from Meljess Bees to soothe a sore throat and squeeze some in a cup of chamomile tea from Coronado Spice & Tea Company

Buy limes from Atkins Nursery and Greek yogurt from the Majestic Garlic booth to toss in the blender with green apples and leafy greens from your favorite farmer and whip up this easy, tasty green smoothie

Dark greens pack a nutrient punch- try these twists on classic salads: Butternut squash from J.R. Organics adds a splash of sweet flavor to this kale salad. Get rich olive oil from The California Olive and bread from Belen Bakery to make your own breadcrumbs to use in a Chard Salad. This flavorful beet greens salad calls for scallions you can find at Valdivia Farms' booth (Buy the beets from Suzie's Farm). Look for beet greens that are robust in color and not wilted.

Ride your bike or walk to the market to keep your health in check. Exercising and eating healthy is a power combination no cold can stand up against! Cheers to feeling great this season!

The North Park Thursday farmers' market is known for bringing locally grown and crafted goods to you each week and the North Park neighborhood is known for it's vibrant craft brewing culture. What better way to combine the two and celebrate San Diego Beer Week (November 1-10) then to pair your farmers' market finds with your favorite local brews!

Get an easy start by picking up Pubcakes cupcakes; grab their 'Beer for Breakfast' treat made with Alesmith Wee Heavy, bacon and maple cream cheese frosting. Buy pumpkins from Suzie's Farm or J.R. Organics, onion and celery from African Sisters Farm, and add Golden Hills Pils from Thorn Street Brewery for this Pumpkin Beer Soup! Serve with The Grand Pumpkin Ale from Poor House Brewery.

Need something a bit more hardy? Gather veggies from your favorite farmers, ground beef from Da-Le Ranch and make this Beer Chili to devour by the fire. Not into cooking with beer? Grab dinner at the market (a spicy Bah Mi sandwich from Pho Realz, hot tamales from Gourmet Tamales or flavorful Salvadorean Pupusa) and head to Tiger Tiger to wash it all down with Flying Ace IPA.

By now it's dessert time again, so grab another Pubcake and call it a day! Cheers to a delicious SD Beer Week!
