Most of the United States' avocados come from California, and most of those are grown right here in San Diego County!  The Adams Avenue Farmers' Market offers local organic avocados from Paradise Valley Ranch and Rancho Mexico Lindo, and while they are great for guacamole, they're also good for so much more. 

Toss arugula and sliced spring onion from Suzie's Farm with a freshly sliced bacon avocado and grapefruit segments for a delicious spring salad.  Toast a ciabatta from Belen Bakery and stuff it with slices of Gruyere cheese from Taste, avocado slices and sprouts from Suzie's for a great vegetarian sandwich.  Pick up some farm fresh eggs along with your avocados at Paradise Valley and make an avocado omelette - add some diced fresh chiles if you like it hot!  Toss roasted chicken from Da Le Ranch with avocado slices and fresh pasta from Lisko Imports and a touch of their new jalapeno pesto for a great entree. 

Avocados contain monounsaturated fats, which may help to lower your cholesterol if used to replace other types of fat.  Stock up on these great green treats this week at the Adams Avenue Market!
